What is the shelf life of lyophilized peptides (unopened)?
General guidance (RUO): Unopened, lyophilized peptides are typically stable long-term when kept cold and dry.
Storage & typical windows*
- Refrigerated (2–8 °C): Suitable for short-term holding (≈ up to 3 months).
- Frozen (≈ −20 °C or colder): Preferred for long-term storage (commonly 12–24 months for many sequences).
- Room temperature: Short transits are usually fine, but refrigerate on arrival.
*Actual stability depends on sequence, salt form, fill size, and packaging. Always defer to the label/COA if it specifies a retest or storage condition.
Best practices
- Keep vials sealed, protected from light and moisture (desiccant, foil/amber).
- Allow the vial to warm to room temp before opening (prevents condensation).
- Minimize temperature cycling; avoid frost-free freezers that auto-defrost.
After opening/reconstitution
Once opened or reconstituted, follow our post-reconstitution storage FAQs: aliquot, freeze promptly, and avoid repeat freeze–thaw.
RUO reminder: All products are for laboratory research use only and not for human or veterinary consumption.
